  • Flatwork

The American Concrete Institute has a Flatwork Finishing certification program consisting of training and review courses, a written examination and a performance evaluation. The latter is based on signed affidavits attesting to the proven abilities and work experience of each person that goes through the steps for certification. Successful completion of the program requires a basic knowledge of concrete construction including:
          • Basic concrete technology
          • Concrete materials and mix proportioning
          • Concrete control tests
          • Proper use of finishing tools
          • Placing, consolidation, and finishing
          • Edging, jointing, curing and protection

  • Insulated Concrete Form Construction

More concrete is being used above grade to build homes in the United States. It's happening because homeowners are becoming more sensitive to environmental issues, are concerned with the increased cost and scarcity of energy, and want their homes - even when they're located in the center of urban areas - to be "peaceful and quiet." Insulated concrete forms (ICF) are leading the way as a forming system and a construction technique for these homes.
